Editorial Meh
Hentai Killer: Girls & Chess is a minimalist auto-battler that strips the genre down to its bones: pre-battle unit placement, then hands-off combat resolution. The hentai gallery is cleanly separated from gameplay, unlocked through wins rather than integrated into the main loop. Opinion splits sharply. A vocal minority finds the tactical core solid enough—unit synergies, element matchups, and placement puzzles reward planning—and praises it as a focused, low-commitment strategy game. The far larger consensus dismisses it as shallow, repetitive, and poorly balanced: only two units (Hinaba and especially Sumitako) are viable; cold-element characters are objectively weak; the AI ignores its own rules; and there is no tutorial or documentation. The game offers almost no progression goal beyond unlocking four static gallery images (some still marked "coming soon" years after 2021 launch), making the 30+ wins required feel like pure grind. Verdict: a competent if bare-bones proof-of-concept, not a finished product.
