Futanari Mermaids

Editorial Don't bother

Futanari Mermaids is a visual novel with adult content featuring fantasy creatures, but execution issues undermine what could have been engaging storytelling. Players consistently criticize the narrative structure: endings lack resolution, character arcs feel incomplete, and alien plot elements appear unexpectedly across routes rather than serving coherent individual stories. Sexual content is sparse—mostly solo scenes with limited variety—and the choice system lacks clarity, making it unclear how decisions affect outcomes. The game runs on a custom engine rather than Ren'Py, a choice that has drawn skepticism; while technically playable after unzipping, it offers no clear advantage over established VN frameworks. Community feedback is divided between those willing to overlook rough storytelling for the core fantasy premise and those who find the narrative too fractured to recommend.
