Editorial Has potential
Frozen Heart presents striking hand-drawn artwork and character design that has earned consistent praise from players—the visual polish, backgrounds, and sprite work are genuinely impressive, and the narrative structure (with visible character affinity tracking) shows thoughtful design. However, the game's core combat system is severely undermined by technical problems: the QTE (quick-time event) mechanics are unreliable, with misaligned hitboxes, inconsistent input lag, and irregular timing that frustrates even experienced players of similar games. Reviewers report frequent missed inputs despite correct timing, and the lack of alternative mechanical depth (no item use, healing, or defensive stance) means combat jank directly blocks progression. The developer acknowledges these issues and plans stat/level systems and fine-tuning, but the current build's combat is functionally broken enough to stall enjoyment for many players, even as the creative foundation remains solid.
