Editorial Meh
Fresh Story is a female-protagonist visual novel following Diana, a young woman restarting her life in a new city. On the creative side, opinions split sharply: supporters praise the character artwork, gradual relationship development, and the emotional investment in Diana's choices, while detractors find the story generic and the pacing glacial — the game front-loads dialogue and teasing but delivers very little explicit payoff, leaving many players feeling strung along. Choices are largely binary opt-ins rather than meaningful branching, making the experience feel close to a kinetic novel. The abrupt ending mid-story — with Part 2 sold separately — frustrates a vocal portion of the audience, as does writing that suffers from grammar errors, misattributed dialogue lines, and inconsistent character names. A recurring comparison to Steps of Debauchery positions this game as a weaker alternative for corruption-genre fans. On the technical side, the current build shows a real pattern of small-to-moderate issues: a reported save-freeze bug, repeated dialogue lines in the final quarter, scene-transition glitches, and erratic music volume — enough rough edges to temper expectations even for players who like the premise.
