Editorial Has potential
Evermore is a visual novel with genuinely compelling worldbuilding, character development, and plot—so much so that players have replayed it multiple times and formed real emotional attachments to the story. The renders and art are consistently praised, and the narrative stakes were high enough to leave the community desperate for closure on a major cliffhanger. However, the game is now indefinitely abandoned. The developer, facing a full-time job and time constraints, announced in 2024 that they would pivot to writing the story as a SFW novel series ("Blood of Creation") instead of continuing the visual novel. This decision has fractured the community: most players either want the AVN finished or want both the game *and* the book, but very few want *only* the book. The developer has been largely silent for over a year despite promising updates, taking subscriber money while offering no progress, and has shown little interest in licensing the AVN rights to another team—a solution many have explicitly requested. For players willing to experience an unfinished story with no concrete end date, Evermore demonstrates real craft and world-building worth the emotional investment. For everyone else, this is a cautionary tale about a project abandoned mid-cliffhanger.
