Editorial Has potential
A lighthearted passion project by BBQ, *Dropped into the Modern World* is a brief, low-stakes scene collector about an adventurer stranded in Tokyo's red-light district. Built around exploration, stat-grinding, and lewd encounters rather than plot or consequence, it leans heavily on food references, Kabukicho lore, and deliberate silliness—the dev makes it trivial to see all content and reach your desired ending. The writing and high-quality art carry the experience well enough, though CG reuse and shallow mechanics limit depth. Opinion divides sharply: some find it a fun, breezy romp; others rate it poorly, likely expecting a weightier title from the studio. The core friction is translation quality—Saikey's localization is rough enough to grate in a commercial product, with iffy phrasing, untranslated text, and pronoun errors—and a genuine UX oversight: no in-game tracker for 50+ restaurants and their food unlocks, making completion tedious without external notes. Despite these frustrations, it delivers what it promises: a short, silly, low-effort escape.
