Editorial Has potential
Drain the Sire is a Slay the Spire–inspired deck-builder with a sharp premise and genuinely appealing pixel art that draws players in. The foundation is solid: players appreciate the core loop, the pun in the title, and the creative potential. However, the game is undeniably mid-development. The current build suffers from a scattered feature set—gold has no use yet, the clothing mechanic is broken (can go negative and lock the game), card stops/continues feel pointless, and there's no endgame or final boss. Encounters feel random and punishing; balance is rough, with some cards strictly outclassing others and early decks struggling against later foes. The developer is engaged and transparent about the roadmap (shop, bosses, multiple characters, better progression logic), which counts for something, but right now there's more scaffolding than game. If you enjoy watching a project take shape and can tolerate an incomplete experience, the bones are worth revisiting; otherwise, wait for a more finished build.
