Editorial Has potential
Detective Mikami is a retro-styled action game built on old-school Resident Evil tank controls and fixed-camera exploration. Players gather items in zombie-infested maps and return them for story progression and unlockable scenes. The core creative concept—lewd action-adventure with pixel-art aesthetics and detailed animated sex scenes—lands well for players who enjoy that blend; the models and animation work earn genuine praise across reviews. However, the game is severely hampered by chronic design and control problems: camera transitions are unpredictable and invisible, causing the protagonist to wander off-screen and get attacked out of view; the aiming system lacks precision and cannot adjust horizontally while aimed; maps provide no guidance; and the UI is confusing (difficulty tiers lock content, saving requires registry file editing, cheats demand external tools). Most reviews describe it as unfinished and barely playable, with community feedback dominated by frustration over controls and navigation rather than the content itself. A few veterans of classic survival horror find the challenge acceptable once adapted, but even they acknowledge the build is rough. For its niche audience, the character design and animation quality justify trying the demo first; the creative work has merit, but the current state makes sustained play exhausting.
