Editorial Has potential
Champion of I: Luxuria is an ambitious tactical RPG with genuine creative strengths: distinctive art direction, compelling character-driven writing, and a morally complex protagonist who pursues his own agenda rather than serve as a blank slate. The story and world-building have earned strong praise from players who invested deeply, with some reporting 30+ hours of engagement and genuine emotional investment in companion arcs. However, the game's execution is uneven. Combat balance is a recurring frustration—accuracy and morale systems create snowball mechanics that punish early attempts, and many players report save-scumming or difficulty spikes that feel disconnected from lore (where Alex is supposedly strong). Progression systems are opaque (magic skills appearing without explanation, tree quests unfinished), and the UI is cluttered. The game also makes the contested design choice of a fixed protagonist name and limited dialogue agency, which some players find immersion-breaking. Community feedback is divided: those who connected with the narrative and art are enthusiastic and forgiving of bugs; those seeking more mechanical depth or player agency have left frustrated. The dev is actively responsive and iterating, but the current build still bears rough edges.
