Blackwood is a dark, adult action-RPG set in a modern urban world with a striking hand-drawn comic book aesthetic blending noir and graphic novel style. You play as Ethan Blackwood, a hardened private investigator haunted by his past—a supernatural creature murdered his wife, forcing him to confront the horrifying truth of the world's hidden supernatural underbelly. Now operating in the margins, Ethan takes on cases the police won't or can't touch, navigating a grim city filled with hidden societies, ancient cults, and monstrous ecosystems. The gameplay combines visceral tactical combat with investigation and dialogue. In combat, you use a zonal targeting system to strategically injure enemies—cripple legs, disarm arms, or attempt difficult headshots. Outside combat, you investigate crime scenes, gather clues, and interrogate witnesses using Ethan's hard-won occult abilities, including the power to commune with lingering spirits. A sophisticated disposition and morality system tracks your standing with NPCs and the consequences of your choices, which shape relationships, open new paths, and unlock multiple endings in this non-linear narrative.
