Editorial Meh
Bad Good Love is an early-access visual novel built around domestic drama and a slow-burn dynamic with a married woman character; fans who've stuck around praise the art and find the character work engaging enough to keep coming back despite the game's current limitations. The real friction here is structural: the developer splits each update into a free "Basic" tier and a paywalled "Extended" tier, which means the only meaningful sexual content in a given update is routinely locked away until the next version drops — a monetisation approach that generated significant debate in the community. Compound that with WIP/unavailable choices that are already visible in the build and tags for content that hasn't actually been implemented yet, and the current release feels notably thin for a first impression. As a creative project it shows genuine promise — the characters are appealing to the audience it's aimed at and at least some of the writing lands — but it's squarely mid-development, and the combination of bare-bones free updates, locked routes, and placeholder choices makes the current build a frustrating experience for anyone not on the higher Patreon tier.
