Ashes of the Sun

Editorial Has potential

Ashes of the Sun is a post-apocalyptic visual novel with strong narrative pacing and character work that has earned genuine praise from players who've engaged with it. The story balances horror, military intrigue, and intimate character moments well, featuring an MC who feels competent and morally grounded rather than a power fantasy—a rare quality in the genre. However, the game is effectively abandoned in active development: the creator publicly paused the project in June, citing a need to rebuild development tools, and has since pivoted focus to modding work. The last meaningful update was v0.50, and despite occasional hints of future work, no substantial progress has materialized. For those seeking a complete narrative experience, this is a cautionary tale; for those willing to engage with what exists, the writing and atmosphere justify the investment, even unfinished.
