Editorial Has potential
Ascension I is an ambitious narrative RPG hybrid that aims to blend stat-building, business management, and adult content across a lengthy story. The game shows genuine creative ambition: players praise its scale, character variety, branching paths, and the developer's active engagement with the community. However, the current build is severely hampered by save-system bugs that make progress unreliable. Multiple players report game-breaking issues where loading a save fails to reset dialogue triggers or quest flags, leaving them locked out of content or forced to restart entirely. The "Blue Nymph" location infamously fails to appear for many players, making the endgame impossible to reach. Save-scumming—repeatedly reloading to pass stat checks—is almost mandatory, yet the save system itself is fragile enough that reloads sometimes corrupt progress rather than restore it. The developer acknowledges these are rooted in the Narrat engine's limitations and has stated they won't be fully resolved without a major rewrite he's not planning. For patient players willing to work around these issues, there's a substantial game underneath; for others, the instability will quickly become frustrating.
