Editorial Has potential
Amber's Story is a short visual novel (30–40 minutes) centered on dialogue choices with real consequences: approach the titular character boldly, but push too hard and she leaves. Success unlocks jump codes for replay value. The writing is competent but verbose for its length; choices matter, but are sparse. Community opinion on the art divides sharply—some players appreciate the deliberate stylization and unusual character design as a refreshing departure from common tropes, while others find the exaggerated proportions uncanny or off-putting. This is genuine artistic disagreement, not a flaw. The real problem is technical: installation is plagued by compatibility issues (Windows 7 incompatibility noted), corrupted downloads across multiple hosts, file naming errors, and antivirus flags. Several players report the game simply won't launch or took half an hour to load. For a game this short, a smooth experience is crucial; right now, many potential players will struggle to get it running at all.
