Editorial Has potential
Zombie Shooting Star is a chaotic arcade-style third-person shooter that leans hard into B-movie spectacle: fast-paced gunplay, exaggerated character design, and relentless enemy swarms punctuated by absurd boss encounters. The core shooting feels snappy and satisfying, and the game surprises by mixing in substantial platforming and vehicle sections—a bold design choice that keeps pacing fresh even if it divides the audience. The protagonist is consistently praised as charming and well-animated, and the soundtrack delivers genuine energy. However, the game's execution is rough around the edges. Vehicle controls are widely mocked as chaotic and unresponsive; the platforming, while frequent, suffers from imprecise collision detection and occasional unintuitive design; animations are inconsistent; and the overall visual presentation reads as budget-constrained despite solid character art. More importantly, the game is *genuinely difficult*—to the point that many players hit a wall around the first third and gave up, and late-game balance deteriorates as enemy spam outpaces player tools. That said, players who push through and internalize the movement tech (double-jump, air-dash, time-slow) find a surprisingly enjoyable arcade action game with strong bones. For fans of old-school, punishing shooters who can tolerate rough polish and don't mind the fanservice aesthetic, it's worth trying—especially on sale. For everyone else, the steep difficulty and mixed design philosophy make it a tough sell.
