Waifus Smash is a rhythm-puzzle hybrid inspired by Crypt of the Necrodancer, pairing Sokoban-style puzzles with rhythm-combat mechanics and adult anime fanservice. The core appeal is clear: casual gameplay, decent art, full voice-acting on sex scenes, and a niche audience that knows exactly what it came for. But the execution is notably rough. The rhythm timing is the most consistent complaint—reviewers experienced in rhythm games (DDR, Beat Saber, the original Necrodancer) report that beat-hits don't register properly, forcing most players to abandon rhythm mode entirely for the free-movement option. Compounding this are scattered but recurring bugs: enemies respawning after save-loads, music failing to load, dialogue and animation glitches, and at least one game-blocking bug that locked a player out of 40% of the gallery mid-campaign. The story is paper-thin, and the game is short (3–4 hours). For those willing to tolerate these flaws and play on lower difficulties, the package delivers: solid CG quality, decent music, and enough content to justify a sale price—especially on discount. For everyone else, it's a broken execution of an interesting concept.
