Editorial Has potential
Waifu Farm is a beta-stage farm-sim idle game with an appealing visual style and interesting mechanical ideas — a mix of clicker, city-builder, and visual novel elements — but it is unpolished and rough around the edges in its current build. The core gameplay loop (placing farms adjacently, managing production chains, riding market fluctuations to maximize profit) has merit, and players appreciate the hand-drawn art and the concept of resource management with time-travel rogue-lite resets. However, the build suffers from real technical friction: save bugs that corrupt progress, dismantling creating duplicate buildings, workers not unassigning correctly, quest log not resetting, negative worker counts, UI elements cut off on large screens, and no clear feedback on what actions succeed (especially the save and sell buttons). Tutorial is effectively absent — players discover critical mechanics by accident (pressing C to dismantle, the cheese factory requiring adjacency to cows, how to use the sell slider) — and several systems appear unfinished or nonfunctional (worker pay events do nothing, market fluctuations feel arbitrary and punishing at high volume). The game is playable and beatable, but requires workarounds and persistence. Creator is actively patching bugs and responsive to feedback, which is promising; a 1.0 release with proper tutorial, UI clarity, and save stability could elevate this. For now, it's a rough early-access experience with solid bones — worth trying if you enjoy idle games and can tolerate missing polish, but not yet a finished product.
