Velvet Rot is an ambitious gay corruption/transformation game with a promising premise and solid core writing—particularly Evan's story, which players praise as genuinely hot and well-crafted. The game uses AI as a structural assistant, a choice that has divided the community; some view it pragmatically as enabling a solo developer with ADHD to ship something real, while others see it as a dealbreaker that undermines trust in the creator's work. Beyond that ideological fault line, the current build is rough: missing or broken images plague most scenes, two major character routes (Dylan and Mark) are blocked by map and progression bugs, and the UI needs work (overlapping location pins, unclear cost/reward displays, awkward scrolling). A recent patch has addressed some issues, and the developer has committed to refinement, but the game in its present state feels unfinished.
