Universe Treasure is a Vampire Survivors-like roguelike with sci-fi mecha characters and adult content. The core gameplay loop is solid—weapon variety, character progression, and difficulty scaling are competently designed—and players who enjoy the genre find it genuinely engaging. However, the game is undermined by severe technical and design problems. Most critically, the Steam version (2.4) is abandoned: a newer 2.5 build exists on DLsite with DLC content, but DLC requires version 2.5 to function, effectively locking Steam buyers out unless they repurchase elsewhere. Beyond that, the difficulty is punishing and heavily RNG-dependent—late-stage runs devolve into pure luck with weapon drops and stat rolls, leaving skill and strategy largely irrelevant. Add frequent stuttering/freezes (often at 60-second intervals), poor audio polish, occasional game-breaking bugs, regional encoding issues, and UI/text glitches, and the package feels neglected and frustrating. The art direction is attractive and animation is competent, but not enough to overcome the grind, technical roughness, and the sense that the developer has moved on. Opinion divides sharply: dedicated Survivors fans willing to stomach the pain find value; most others encounter a janky, grindy experience that demands patience and workarounds.
