Editorial Has potential
Trials in Tainted Space is a deeply customizable text-adventure with mutation, transformation, and extensive fetish content—a love letter to player agency in body modification and weird sex scenarios. The community values its creative flexibility and sheer volume of kinks, but there's genuine frustration: development has slowed significantly, with recent patches focusing on engine work rather than new story content, and many players feel the focus has narrowed to hermaphrodite content at the expense of other fetishes. More troubling is a vocal subset convinced the developer has abandoned active development in favor of slow monetization, though updates do still arrive. The game remains compelling for its core audience, but patience is wearing thin. Concern also exists around past content removal—sexual coercion and non-consent scenarios were toned down or excised to comply with platform requirements, disappointing players who valued that darker tone. Mechanical friction (forced game-overs in some fights, a dense UI) adds to the friction. For newcomers and those into transformation, pregnancy, and body-horror erotica, it's still rich; for veterans expecting story progress and the rawer edge of earlier versions, it feels stalled.
