Editorial Meh
The Witch of the End is a rough prototype with an interesting core idea that has not yet come together. Combat feels unresponsive—attacks trigger unexpectedly during jumps, dodge timing is awkward, and resource management (SP for both attacking and dashing) creates friction rather than tactical depth. Visually, the environment design feels haphazard, with props and backgrounds poorly integrated. A recent patch addressed some scripting bugs, but the game remains janky and unfinished; players report missing UI elements (especially on Wine/Proton), balance issues, and an overall sense that the project may be abandoned mid-development. Community opinion is divided between those who see potential in the concept and those who find it boring and badly made. Only worth trying if you enjoy early-access experiments and can tolerate significant rough edges.
