Editorial Meh
At version 0.2, *The Wife of Dero Island* is very early in development, and the community's verdict is as mixed as you'd expect for a debut release at this stage. The standout point of praise is the female protagonist, whose model earns consistent compliments for her attractive, Latina-inspired look. Beyond that, reviewers are skeptical: secondary characters are widely criticized as unappealing or oddly rendered, the naming conventions are called lazy, and the audio design is singled out for jarring, jump-scare-level volume spikes. A few renders are praised, though some suspect AI post-processing. The UI text bar reportedly obscures a large portion of the screen, compounding the rough experience. The bigger concern for the genre's audience is mechanical: multiple players flag that meaningful choices are largely illusory so far, with the story forcing a single path regardless of player input — a real sticking point in a game that bills itself as a slow-burn with branching tension. The "cheating" framing is present and expected by most, but players hoping their decisions will shape how it unfolds are not yet reassured. With very little content in the current build and only scattered enthusiasm, this one is firmly a wait-and-see.
