Editorial Has potential
The Midnight Lodge is a BL visual novel with high-quality AI-generated art that immediately impressed players skeptical of the medium. The standout creative achievement is the original music—several reviewers cited the songs as genuinely masterful and emotionally resonant, with witty, inventive lyrics that elevated the experience. The character designs are distinctive and varied, the supernatural atmosphere is well-executed, and the story shows promise as it moves into Chapter 2. However, the game suffers from significant structural confusion: the order of quests makes no narrative sense, the game assumes you've completed events you skipped, and some audio clues fail to appear in the notes—these aren't minor bugs but genuine design problems that break immersion and accessibility. The build is actively being reworked (Chapter 1 was recently overhauled, old saves don't carry forward), and while most players found it playable, the unfinished state and logical inconsistencies in quest sequencing place it in rough territory. The core creative vision—atmospheric supernatural dating sim with genuinely memorable songs—is worth the replay, but expect to puzzle through some broken paths on the way.
