Editorial Meh
The Last Progenitor is a visual novel with an intriguing premise—a protagonist returning home to inherit a family company and supernatural mysteries—and decent production values (solid character art, animated scenes). However, it is severely hampered by an unfinished build and creative missteps. Community consensus is split between those who see potential and those frustrated by its current state: the game offers only 50–90 minutes of content (one chapter, with a promised Volume 2 delayed since February 2025 with no further updates), branching paths so divergent they feel like separate games, and poorly implemented quick-time events that frustrate rather than engage. The 18+ scenes lack variety and originality, and the Russian/machine-translated dialogue is noticeably broken (mixed pronouns, garbled grammar, unclear speaker attribution), undermining story coherence. The dev appears inactive on community channels. For a small niche audience interested in supernatural harem premises, there is enough here to revisit in 3–5 updates; for most, it reads as an early-stage project that asks for money before delivering substance.
