Sullied River has solid bones: the character art is distinctive, combat is engaging, and the world-building shows genuine care. However, the game is hamstrung by two persistent issues. First, the puzzle design relies heavily on pixel-hunting and unintuitive discovery—wading into rivers, finding hidden paths behind buildings, accessing areas blocked by NPCs who won't move—with minimal telegraphing. Players frequently get stuck, and even the developer acknowledges a hint system is planned. Second, the current build is unstable: crashes occur in combat (especially after using potions), during menu navigation, when equipping items, and when opening chests, with some players unable to progress past specific encounters. The community is divided between those who appreciate the effort and the mechanical depth, and those frustrated by both the obtuse puzzle design and the technical roadblocks. If you have patience for old-school adventure-game logic and can tolerate frequent crashes, there's something here worth exploring—but expect to consult the community thread regularly.
