Stripjong: Venus Returns is a strip-mahjong remake that succeeds at what it sets out to do—deliver attractive 3D character animations as a reward for winning at Japanese mahjong. The 3D models animate with genuine care (falling clothes, physics, varied undressing sequences), and players consistently praise the visual quality and VR implementation. The mahjong itself is standard 1v1 play with adjustable difficulty; it's not designed to teach or challenge serious players, but casual and intermediate players report enjoying it once they learn the basic rules. The core loop works: win, watch, replay. However, the game is held back by significant technical issues in its current build. A system-date check causes a brown-screen crash on many systems, requiring workarounds (date rollback, third-party launcher patches); while the community has documented solutions, this remains a barrier to smooth play. On top of that, players report VR mode occasionally launching into theater instead of headset mode, controller disconnects mid-session, and UI/camera problems during undressing sequences. Meanwhile, the mahjong AI on higher difficulties is widely criticized as unfair—higher difficulties don't raise skill, they stack the CPU's hand, making wins feel predetermined rather than earned. The game also ships with relatively few undressing animations (around 5 per character), meaning completionists burn through content quickly. For a ¥5,000 title, the replayability is thin once the gallery is full.
