Editorial Has potential
Star Witch is a dungeon-crawl RPG built in RPGMaker, following a young adventurer named Nii as she scales a mysterious tower. The game's strongest suit is its presentation: a polished, consistent art style with a responsive paper-doll system that reflects outfit changes on the character's portrait in real time, full voice acting across much of the cast, and a dual combat system that blends real-time skirmishes against regular enemies with turn-based boss encounters. The story carries a deliberately dark, oppressive tone — side quests tend to end badly for everyone involved, and the world is painted as cynical and bleak rather than heroic — which a portion of reviewers found compelling as a character piece, while others found it a poor fit for an adult title they wanted to be lighter in mood. The H content (30+ static CG events, censored, mostly monster/creature defeat scenarios) draws mixed reactions: fans of loss/monster content appreciate the variety and voice work, but those hoping for consensual or human-focused scenes, or for dynamic animation, will come away disappointed. The game runs short — roughly 2–3 hours per playthrough — and several reviewers felt the story's ambitious world-building is left unresolved by an abrupt ending. On the technical side, multiple independent reviewers flag occasional crash-to-desktop issues during play, and at least one reports a crash during a final-act cutscene. Saves are preserved through crashes, and the build is clearly playable end-to-end, but the pattern of reported crashes is consistent enough to warrant caution. Players are advised to save frequently.
