Editorial Has potential
Shin Megami Tensei: Training the Demon is a genuinely accomplished dungeon crawler that takes its SMT pedigree seriously. The core gameplay loop—negotiation, fusion, demon management, and punishing turn-based combat with permadeath threat—lands effectively for genre fans, and the community's newest detailed feedback praises the recreation of classic SMT's chaotic difficulty (instant-kill spam, random crits, the works). The sexual content integrates naturally as a loyalty/progression system rather than disrupting the game's mechanical identity. That said, the build is rough: widespread graphics glitches (invisible mazes on Windows, missing textures on Android), save/progress-tracking confusion, mobile menu friction, CPU hogging, and scattered translation errors create friction at every platform. The creative foundation is solid enough that polishing would make this genuinely worth playing; the current state requires patience and workarounds. Opinion splits chiefly over difficulty tuning (some praise the SMT cruelty, others find early one-shot spam excessive), but there is no consensus that the game's concept or execution is flawed—just that it needs stability and better onboarding.
