Editorial Worth it
Rubicon ISS launches with striking sci-fi visuals and strong character design that immediately impress. The world-building is solid, pacing feels natural, and players appreciate the cinematic presentation and chemistry between characters. However, the experience is hampered by two persistent issues: the narrative is quite linear with choices that feel cosmetic rather than consequential, leaving players craving genuine branching and exploration; and the protagonist's character model divides opinion sharply—some find him unconventional, others find him difficult to immerse in. The game also has a notable lesbian/F/F focus that isn't frontloaded in the description, which some players wish had been clearer upfront to manage expectations. Mechanically, the build has minor UI polish gaps (save-overwrite confirmation hard to read, unclear selection states) but nothing blocking. For players drawn to character-driven sci-fi with strong female designs and willing to accept a linear, choice-light first episode, this is a confident debut with real potential; others may want to wait for greater player agency in future episodes.
