Editorial Has potential
RSSU is a Soviet-themed adult visual novel with strong character design, witty writing, and a genuinely engaging mix of humor and mystery set in a fictional 1980s USSR. The renders are detailed and the setting is genuinely unusual in the genre. However, the game suffers from significant technical problems—most critically, a crash bug in the endgame that prevents completion, plus broken minigames and spotty grammar throughout. The build is clearly unfinished despite being listed as early access; worse, development has stalled for over a year with no updates or communication. Community opinion splits sharply: Russian and history-literate players praise the nostalgic writing and visual detail, while others find the narrative emotionally shallow and the dialogue repetitive after the early acts. If you value quirky premise and worldbuilding over polish and completion, and are willing to risk buying an abandoned-seeming project, there is real creative substance here. Otherwise, wait for either a major update or final release.
