Editorial Has potential
Rise of Menrak is a passion project with genuine appeal: players consistently praise its approach to varied content through distinct NPCs and characters, letting audiences choose their own path through different kinks without moral judgment—the protagonist is unapologetically evil, which many find refreshing. However, the game is in rough shape technically. Multiple reviewers report game-breaking bugs: black screens at key story moments (especially late-game after capturing Dr. Born), missing sprite files that halt progression, infinite load loops in Chapter 2, and broken combat skill effects. While the developer is responsive and has released patches, the current build requires player workarounds (manually copying and renaming PNG files) to progress past certain points. The grind is also substantial and not to everyone's taste; some find the map design bloated with empty hallways. For players willing to tolerate technical friction and engage with the game's niche appeal, there's solid character writing and world-building underneath—but expect to troubleshoot.
