Editorial Has potential
Poker Master Tactics is a narrative card game built around poker mechanics and character corruption—a premise that attracted players looking for something less formulaic. The game has merit in its core design: players who mastered aggressive play report solid engagement, and fans appreciate the writing and character work. However, the build suffers from significant technical and balancing problems. Animation speeds spike wildly near endgame (especially on Windows), making sequences unwatchable; the poker AI behaves unpredictably (straight evaluation bugs reported); difficulty spikes hard in later rounds with no mid-game save option, leaving frustrated players grinding the same stage repeatedly; and some feel progression requires luck rather than skill. The developer recently abandoned the project after only three months and two episodes, citing poor early returns—a decision the community found premature, since word-of-mouth takes time. For players patient with bugs and willing to grind, the creative core has potential; for most, the technical state and truncated run make it a hard sell.
