Editorial Has potential
Pocket Waifu: Rekindled is a supernatural dating visual novel that converts the original free-to-play Pocket Waifu into a paid, one-time-purchase experience. The game's biggest selling points are its polished, varied artwork, a roster of twelve distinct characters, and a succubus-pact premise that layers genuine supernatural drama over the expected romance content. Players who loved the original will find some expanded characterization and a welcome removal of the grind and microtransactions, and newcomers will get a visually appealing package with a decent spread of CG scenes. The writing is uneven — the protagonist can grate, pacing gets rushed in the second half, and tonal shifts between comedy, drama, and explicit content don't always land smoothly — but the overall experience delivers on what its audience is looking for. The build, however, has real rough edges that several players have hit. Autosave corruption can softlock progress mid-playthrough, the harem ending fails to register all girls at max relationship for some users, multiple achievements are reported as unobtainable without external workarounds, and a handful of scenes appear inaccessible through normal play with no hint system to guide you. Fans of the original will also notice missing characters (Klara and Fae are absent), fewer animated scenes than expected, and the removal of the memory/replay mode that the predecessor had. At full price it's a hard sell given these issues, but at a decent discount and with some patch optimism, it's a worthwhile pickup for fans of anime-style adult visual novels.
