Philosophy of the New Wired

A philosophical visual novel and email-reading adventure game set in the world of 'serial experiments lain.' You play as a roboticist at Tachibana Research Institute who receives an email from Iwakura Lain—supposedly dead, now existing as a consciousness within a network. Through a series of contemplative emails, Lain asks you to help create a body for her father while posing deep questions about consciousness, embodiment, language, and the nature of reality itself. The game explores themes of Wittgenstein's philosophy of language, AI hallucination, Merleau-Ponty's incomplete body, and simulation hypothesis. As the boundaries between the digital Wired world and physical reality blur, you must decide whether to help complete her request and surrender your own physicality, or remain grounded in the real world. Presented entirely through a Wired OS-inspired interface with a cold, immersive desktop UI aesthetic.
