Editorial Has potential
Overcome Odds is a family-corruption sandbox with genuine player enthusiasm for its core systems and potential, but the current build struggles with significant bugs that undermine the experience. Recent feedback highlights persistent issues: the 'claim' mechanic frequently fails to trigger (multiple players report needing 8+ actions with no result), ending conditions are unreliable (the True and Patricide endings reportedly work only occasionally, if at all), and character-name logic breaks immersion (NPCs default to original names instead of player-chosen ones, and devotion flags sometimes point to the wrong person, blocking available actions). The writing itself needs overhaul—players note it lacks the tension and taboo texture that would make the corruption mechanic land emotionally. That said, the iterative improvements to the underlying system show the developer's direction is sound, and community mods have begun addressing UI and stability problems. With a patch addressing the core bugs and dialogue polish, this could deliver on its promise; as it stands, it's a game with a solid foundation running on a rough, incomplete build.
