Editorial Has potential
New Life City is an early-access text adventure that borrows heavily from Degrees of Lewdity—same setting of systemic oppression against androids, similar progression loops, comparable mechanical structure. What sets it apart is genuinely thoughtful writing: reviewers praise the world-building, character touches (the nonverbal synth handing out cards reading "You are here" moved one player to tears), and thematic depth about manufactured servitude. The core creative vision is strong. Technically, it's rough. The game is mid-development: several players report getting stuck in loops (Government Center becomes unresponsive), quest markers unclear or missing (citizenship upgrades unfinished, hybrid-encounter requirements opaque), and sex-scene RNG heavily skewed toward oral, making release management frustrating without resorting to non-consensual content. A few items don't work as gifts, combat text lacks clarity, and map navigation is clunky. One player found the 0.4 release "unplayable" due to bugs. These are early-stage growing pains, but they're real and they block engagement.
