Editorial Has potential
MythGotchi is an engaging monster-taming roguelike with genuine creative ambition—character writing, art direction, and core gameplay loop earn consistent praise from engaged players. The developer remains actively responsive to feedback and bug reports, a strong signal of commitment. However, the game is in a notably unfinished state: quests and skills exist but aren't implemented, item effects are missing, and most critically, players report recurring crashes, softlocks during combat, save corruption, and progression-blocking bugs. A pattern of post-patch instability (v0.41, v0.42.2) means each update introduces new failures alongside fixes. The NSFW content is sparse and randomized, with some planned fetish material (bestiality) removed, leaving players disappointed relative to the tags. Community opinion splits sharply: those who can push through the bugs find genuine fun; those hit by crashes or softlocks call it unplayable. The game has real merit creatively, but the build quality is too unstable to recommend at full price in its current form.
