Mindwipe Castle is a lesbian-focused visual novel mystery game that draws clear inspiration from Ace Attorney and Danganronpa, blending story-driven intrigue with an interactive trial system. Reviewers who engaged with it appreciate the multi-route narrative, the villain point-of-view mode unlocked after completion, and moments where characters genuinely interact with one another — the writing and concept earn real affection from its target audience. The setting and universe (tied to the developer's earlier Spiral Clicker) give it some added texture for returning fans. The dominant criticism, however, is that the trial gameplay is overdesigned and underimplemented: players frequently describe it as frustrating and opaque, with timing windows for interjections that feel arbitrary, too many interaction types that rarely do anything useful, and a near-immediate reliance on the walkthrough. UI issues compound this — accidental menu exits can lose progress, and the lack of a gallery (added in a later patch) and limited save slots were noted complaints. The sexual content is sparse and lands only at the very end of routes, which disappointed some. On balance, the story and concept have genuine appeal for fans of the genre, but the trial system may be a significant hurdle.
