Marginalia: Twisted Pearl

A visual novel set during a prolonged religious war. The player assumes the role of Montefalco, a newly appointed priest sent to investigate a convent plagued by rumors of demonic possession. His predecessor was accused by the nuns and executed as a sorcerer. As Montefalco conducts rituals and confessions, the true nature of the convent's abbess Marii and her sisters—their strange behavior and madness—gradually comes to light. Meanwhile, the city descends into irrational witch trials where women are interrogated and burned in the name of justice. Caught between faith and doubt, good and evil, Montefalco becomes entangled in cruel rituals and forbidden pleasures.
