Editorial Worth it
Lovey-Dovey Lockdown is a short visual novel with strong production values and a polarizing narrative. The game excels in its visuals—dynamic CGs are detailed and well-animated—and voice acting, particularly the Mandarin/Taiwanese dub, which adds genuine emotional weight. The core mechanic (daily stat management unlocking scenes and endings) is straightforward but functional. However, the story divides players sharply: some find the bittersweet ending (reuniting after 15 years of separation, with complex marital baggage) genuinely moving and well-written; others find it emotionally deflating and narratively muddled, especially regarding the husband's motivations and the FMC's trauma-laden backstory (forced into debt repayment through coercion). A significant faction criticizes the repetitive dialogue, limited interactivity during sex scenes, and the somewhat obtuse unlock conditions for the "perfect" ending—though a guide now exists. Minor complaints include UI quirks (menu window resets, WinXP notification sounds), lack of Korean/English localization despite multiregional voice acting, and CGs that don't carry over across scenes. The game is roughly 2 hours long and best appreciated on sale rather than at full price, particularly for players drawn to the foot-fetish content and willing to tolerate a deliberately tragic-turned-bittersweet romance.
