Editorial Meh
Latex Dungeon is a niche fetish RPG with hand-drawn artwork that genuinely impresses—custom sprites, character busts, and battle animations show real artistic effort, and the developer's willingness to share fan art and open-source the engine earns respect. However, the game as a *game* is thin: story exists only as scaffolding, NPCs don't react to your progress, rescued maidens disappear into the town with no fanfare, and the RPG Maker template gameplay feels hollow. Combat is repetitive (three attack animations reused constantly), progression is hidden (stat allocation found by accident), and balance breaks early if you grind or spam a healing NPC—making challenge collapse into tedium by mid-game. Some reviewers found the scenes engaging enough to justify the purchase; others saw only a slideshow wearing an RPG skin. Opinion splits sharply: fans of the art and fetish content call it worthwhile; everyone else finds it a beautiful but mechanically pointless slog. The inclusion of zoophilia content has also alienated some players.
