Just a Friend is a branching NTR/relationship sandbox that divides its community sharply. The core complaint: the game lost focus. It began as a story about corrupting your girlfriend Lisa, but has sprawled into a sister route, workplace affairs, and multiple side characters—Lisa herself now barely features in each chapter. Many players find Lisa poorly written and uncompelling ("personality is what Wonder Bread tastes like"), so they gravitateto better-developed characters like Rina instead; others appreciate the variety and say the expanded scope delivers substantial updates. The MC is also widely criticized for not reacting credibly to obvious infidelity, undermining emotional stakes. A smaller contingent defends Lisa's looks and availability as refreshing, and praises the game's willingness to let the player cheat too. Updates have slowed (now roughly bimonthly) and remain split between too many routes, leaving no single arc fully developed—which is the real problem, not the build.
