Editorial Worth it
Intruder's Tale is a slow-burn netori visual novel that divides its audience sharply over the protagonist's characterization. The game's core strength lies in its psychological storytelling and character dynamics: players consistently praise the female characters' agency and initiative (particularly Haruka and Tsutomu), the subtle visual storytelling through facial expressions and body language, and the narrative's willingness to subvert typical NTR tropes by having the wife genuinely conflicted about her affair despite loving her husband. The "Husband's View" mechanic and non-explicit scenes of emotional betrayal are frequently highlighted as the game's most effective moments. However, the MC's passivity and low confidence are a persistent point of contention. While some players see this as intentional, realistic character development—a flawed man building confidence over time—many others find him insufferably spineless and the game's pacing painfully slow for an adult title. The mystery-liquid subplot and Tsutomu's increasingly aggressive manipulation (including drugging and non-consensual scenes) signal the narrative is escalating, but opinions diverge on whether the story earns its slow setup or wastes the player's time. The build is stable and feature-rich, though a few request a gallery and scene replay options to reduce repetition.
