Editorial Has potential
Hive Commando is a scrappy, confident hybrid of real-time strategy and twin-stick shooter that lands its core concept with surprising charm. Players consistently praise the art direction, sound design, character writing, and the smart pairing of lewd scenes with unit unlocks—the creative work feels intentional and cohesive, even at gamejam scale. The stumbling block is scope: four levels, two unit types, and thin progression leave most players wanting more, not because the game fails but because it succeeds enough to make its brevity sting. The build, however, is rough. Recent reports detail hard crashes on the final level, Linux executables missing or mispackaged, projectile collision bugs, units refusing orders after attacking, and at least one system-locking performance spike. The concept and execution deserve attention; the current state needs work before a wider audience should invest time.
