Editorial Meh
Hexmoor Academy is a text-based magic-school game with a promising premise—customizable protagonist, branching relationships, and the bones of an intriguing world—but the current build is hampered by significant UI problems that actively distract from play. Multiple reviewers report that the cycling text-box colors cause eye strain and headaches; dialogue boxes are oversized; excessive line breaks create awkward spacing; and forced scrolling interrupts pacing. The character-creation screen is cluttered, and a missing audio file breaks immersion. On the writing side, the game is only at the demo stage: you've met two schoolmates and a teacher, a kiss has just begun, and core systems (magic, combat, relationship depth, group content) remain unexplained or unimplemented. The worldbuilding and character variety show promise, and the bi-romance premise is welcome, but there is not yet enough narrative to judge the game's creative merit fairly. Fix the visual and UX barriers first; the story has room to grow.
