Editorial Has potential
Hero's Demise is an early-stage tactical RPG with a focus mechanic that rewards disciplined play: your power scales with how low your HP drops, and managing that tension is the core puzzle. The single boss fight is genuinely difficult and demands understanding the system before it clicks, which has divided the playerbase — some find that depth satisfying, others feel the tutorial is too cryptic and the RNG (initiative rolls, damage variance) makes it feel punishing rather than fair. The creative premise is promising, but the game is clearly unfinished: eight months without updates, no save system yet, and only one real encounter to judge the combat's long-term viability. If you enjoy systems-heavy, roguelike-adjacent design and are willing to reverse-engineer the mechanics, there's something here; if you want clear tutorials and a traditional difficulty curve, wait for more development.
