Editorial Meh
Furry College is a short visual novel (45 minutes baseline) centered on Mittens, an ambitious cat girl navigating college, social media drama, and romantic choices. The game delivers on its core promise: lighthearted writing, branching choices that shape the protagonist's path from "good girl" to "loose cannon," and adult content. However, the execution is fundamentally shallow. Choices rarely feel meaningful—most collapse into binary options (tell truth or lie, have sex or run away)—and the narrative itself is thin. The character models are the biggest technical gripe: they read as human bodies with animal skins pasted on, which undermines immersion for an audience that expects proper anthropomorphic design. The UI and menus are bare-bones stock Ren'Py, and the overall presentation feels prototype-like rather than polished. For what it is—a free prologue with paid episodes—the game succeeds as a gateway to paid DLC; reviewers who engaged with it tend to enjoy the adult content and light tone, but critics rightly note the absence of depth, meaningful mechanics, or visual finesse.
