Freshman is a short adult visual novel with decent animations and character art, but it stumbles badly on execution. The story is minimal—essentially a linear sequence of sexual encounters with little narrative substance—and the English dialogue is severely broken throughout, ranging from grammatically nonsensical to nearly unreadable. Players consistently report the game is 15–30 minutes long despite Steam reviews suggesting much longer playtimes, fueling suspicion of review manipulation. While the art assets themselves are competent, the lightweight narrative, lack of meaningful choices, poor UI, and especially the dialogue quality make this a difficult recommend even for players seeking quick content. Some suspect AI generation followed by crude machine translation, though the exact cause remains unclear.
