Editorial Meh
Dreams of Amelia is a hybrid title combining a short visual-novel story mode with a sandbox scene viewer and light character customization. On the creative side, opinion is sharply divided: a vocal minority genuinely connects with the writing — one reviewer described tearing up at its themes of personal demons, praising the voice acting as "effective and eloquent" — while the majority finds the story dull and the sandbox repetitive almost immediately. The visuals and voice work earn consistent praise across both camps, and those who appreciate its quiet, atmospheric tone consider it a standout in the genre. Those who don't connect with that tone, however, are left with very little: customization options are described as extremely limited, sandbox variety feels thin, and the content volume is almost universally called out as insufficient for the price. The build is functional and relatively stable, but there are credible, repeated reports of missing characters (displayed as □) across the Chinese and Japanese localizations, which is a real barrier for those players. The game appears to still be mid-development — only two of four story chapters are available — so buyers should know they are getting a partial experience for now.
