Editorial Has potential
Don't Open the Door is a weight-gain visual novel with a premise of identifying unwanted visitors—a niche concept that lands solidly for its audience. The game has genuine creative potential and players who engage with it praise the core idea and atmosphere, but the execution suffers from recurring technical issues: sprite/character logic bugs where visitors appear despite being rejected, duplicate character names causing confusion, and end-game crashes that force workarounds. Beyond the bugs, the game is content-light; most players feel the current build offers only a few hours of play and want more days, transformation stages, and visitor variety. The developer is active and responsive, but notorious for chronic delays—promising updates 2–3 days out and delivering weeks later, which has eroded trust. For those willing to overlook the rough edges and wait patiently, there is something worth exploring; for others, the incomplete state and slow progress make it hard to recommend right now.
